Dude, I'm part French. Well, two of my grandmothers were from Alsace Lorraine, which is fairly French, or so I've heard. I have no idea whether they shaved their underarms, but I'm betting the answer is Yes.
It's weird. I recognize intellectually that I've been habituated to think that women should shave their armpits, and there is no intrinsic reason for them to do so. I want to be a good feminist and support the liberation of women.
But it's just so gross!
Personally, I blame Barbie.
As for which French person to actually hug, I'm going to pick her: http://www.jurgita.com/pictures/models/photos-38984-Cinderella-Amar-38984-1

Hey, where I am there are absolutely no French people around. Would you settle for some one from Louisiana, they were french at one point in time?
Does being nice to French Canadians count?
How about I just be nice to a canadian, and call it a day.
